October is Health and Safety Month
The world is changing faster than ever. What hasn't changed is WorkSafe's dedication to keeping Victorians safe at work and helping them return to work if they are injured. That's why this year's Health and Safety Month will focus on thinking beyond today, and planning for the health and safety and return to work challenges of the future.
Purpose of Health and Safety Month
This is the 24th year of WorkSafe Health and Safety Month! The state-wide program kicks-off on Tuesday 4 October and concludes 27 October 2016 and we're taking events as far and wide as Mildura, Shepparton, Bendigo, Echuca, Swan Hill, Melbourne, Suburban Melbourne and Geelong (just to name a few).
The purpose of the diverse calendar of events is to raise awareness of WorkSafe and the role it plays in the community to deliver excellent workplace safety and return to work outcomes.
We achieve this by providing information and education to employers, workers and the community – designed to help them meet their obligations under health and safety and workers compensation legislation. This includes communication that highlights best practice, drives behaviour and cultural change and informs and encourages compliance.
We're looking forward to your involvement in WorkSafe Health and Safety Month 2016! Don't forget to join the conversation on social media using #hsmonth.
