Join WorkSafe for breakfast and the latest construction industry statistics for the Geelong region, followed by a session on domestic and commercial ladders and manual handling.

9:00am to 9:50am: Welcome address and keynote presentation – Leadership in health and safety

Hear WorkSafe's Chief Executive present a brief overview of its current thinking and then listen to WorkSafe's Ambassador Cameron Ling, draw on his 12 years as an AFL football and captain of Geelong's 2011 premiership winning team to discuss leadership, building culture and how it can translate to the health and safety environment.

Option 1: Bullying in the Workplace - WorkSafe's response

We'll talk about what workplace bullying is and WorkSafe's role, with a specific focus on young workers. 

Option 2: Manual handling - beyond the basics

This session will focus on helping employers review and revise their risk control measures to reduce musculoskeletal disorders, including the impact of psychosocial factors.

Option 1: Preventing and managing occupational violence & aggression in healthcare

Healthcare is a high-risk industry for being exposed to occupational violence and aggression (OVA). We'll share the latest healthcare-specific research, talk about adopting a systems approach to OVA and the important role of senior leadership in achieving sustainable change.

Option 2: Returning to work from Sprains and Strains - Is the work safe? Do I feel safe?

This interactive presentation and discussion will focus on the role of occupational health and safety activities to enable people to return to work following a musculoskeletal injury.

Option 1: Drugs and alcohol in the workplace - How to implement a drug and alcohol testing regime

This is an interactive presentation and discussion where you'll learn how to successfully develop and implement an effective drug and alcohol testing regime in your workplace. 

Option 2: Asbestos - Asbestos in the workplace

Whether you're a plumber, electrician, carpenter, tiler or other tradie, there is potential for asbestos to be disturbed while carrying out your work. You'll learn how to identify asbestos and take precautions to prevent being exposed.
